Clumber Park is a country park in "The Dukeries" near Worksop in Nottinghamshire. It's a beautiful expanse of parkland, heath and woods.
The area is called "The Dukeries" because it contains:-
Worksop Manor: home of the Dukes of Norfolk, and nearest to Worksop;
Welbeck Abbey: seat of the Dukes of Portland;
Thoresby Hall: seat of the Dukes of Kingston (later of the Earls Manvers);
Clumber House: seat of the Dukes of Newcastle, since demolished.
Owned by the National Trust, the park covers 3,800 acres, so there's scope for walking as far or as little as you like. We opted for a stroll round the lake, some 4.6 miles.
