This website is about the ramblings of a GOM.
If you're wondering what a "GOM" is, it's me, on the left.
Or above if you're viewing this on a mobile), a Grumpy Old Man.
The Leader of the Opposition and I enjoy leisurely strolls around our wonderful country, so I thought that we would share them with you.
The routes will be listed in "The Walks" section and if you click on one of these, it will take you to a description and photos of our bimbles.
And the "Leader of the Opposition"?
Well, She's the very nice young
lady on the right (or below if you're viewing this on a mobile), who
seems to follow me everywhere.
I don't mind; infact I've grown quite attached to her over the years.
I'm Ben Revell. Born 1949 in Sunderland, County Durham. Number five of seven siblings.
The family moved to Scunthorpe in Lincolnshire in 1953 and this has been my home town ever since.
Left school in 1964 and was an apprentice plater until
February 1966 when I followed my two elder brothers into Her Britannic
Majesty's Armed Forces.
I enlisted in the Royal Corps of Signals,
leaving in 1976. I saw service in several parts of the world and gained
many friends, a lot of whom I'm still in contact with.
After leaving the Corps, I returned to my home town and
found employment in the local steel works.
30 years later in 2005, I took
early retirement/redundancy and have lived a leisurely life ever since.
My other pleasures are nature and photography. Since retiring I've combined them both. The results can be viewed on my Flickr pages. I am also the Treasurer and Standard Bearer of the RSA Lincoln Branch.
